Lactation consulting is the process of providing education, support, and guidance to mothers on breastfeeding and lactation-related issues including assistance with proper latching techniques, guidance in discomfort/pain relief, positioning, pumping, and much much more!
Breastfeeding is healthy for moms and babies, but can be a lot more challenging than many women expect. Difficulty, frustration and unexpected challenges lead many woman to stop breastfeeding before they ever intended. Having a trained and certified lactation counselor to help ease the transition, answer questions and assist with challenges will help minimize possible feelings of discouragement and various other obstacles that can interfere with achieving your breastfeeding goals.
During a lactation consultation, you can expect to receive personalized support and guidance on breastfeeding techniques, addressing common breastfeeding challenges, as well as working together with your lactation counselor to develop an effective breastfeeding plan.
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Whether this is your first baby or your sixth, every birth is unique. Doulas not only bring the knowledge gained through evidence based training and experience but most importantly offer a support person that "all your own"! As the hustle and bustle of hospitals, birthing centers, midwives, doctors and staff go on about you, your doula is there to journey with you by providing continuous comfort and support, helping you embrace and thrive in the moment.
Currently we accept the following insurances:
*TRICARE benefits include: 6 doula sessions, 6 lactation consultations, as well as a birth doula for your special day!
Doula benefits begin after 20 weeks gestation. Due to TRICARE policy all services are offered as out-patient services only, with the exception of labor and delivery which must take place in either a hospital or birthing center. These services can include both home and virtual visits. Currently TRICARE does not cover doula services for births at a military hospital. However, lactation services are still available for these mothers and babies!
**Medi-Cal benefits include: 1 initial visit, 8 additional visits (to include any combination of prenatal/postpartum visits), L&D (labor and delivery) support as well as 2 extended postpartum visits. 9 additional postpartum visits maybe available if referred by OB.
ALL visits can be in person or provided via Telehealth!
